A real mover answers, every time

Dial the yard and it is Curtis on the line, or one of the crew who actually rides the trucks — no phone tree, no scripted call center. Walk us through what makes your move tricky — a turning staircase in an older Carriage Town bungalow, a Grand Blanc basement that has to come up flight by flight, the long rural pull out to Goodrich — and we have the whole day mapped before your date lands.

The number is locked before we lift a thing

We walk your rooms one by one, fold the wardrobe boxes, pads, dollies and shrink-wrap straight into that figure, and hand it to you in writing — so once the truck is in your driveway, nothing new ever shows up on the tab. That is what Budget stands for here: an honest up-front price, not a rental-depot counter.

Box the whole house or just the breakables

Give us the kitchen for dish barrels, let closets ride across on the hanger in wardrobe cartons, or simply flag the mirrors, flat-screens and glass tabletops — those we build a fitted crate around for the road. Your call on how much we handle.

The same crew, front door to front door

Whoever sizes up your rooms at the estimate is the crew chief steering the truck and doing the final walkthrough with you — a Davison ranch, a Flushing two-story, a third-floor place near UM-Flint, the job never gets handed off partway.

Where Budget Moving began

Flint’s east side raised me, right around the auto plants, and before I put my own truck on the road in 2013 I spent years on a GM supplier dock and loading trucks all over Genesee County for other outfits. It wore on me watching folks get nickel-and-dimed and their furniture knocked around, so I set the company up on my own terms: the price in writing first, then a crew good enough to back it up.

So is Budget Moving a real moving company?

Yes — Budget Moving is a fully licensed and insured, owner-run moving company based in Flint, MI; we run our own trucks and uniformed crews. You deal with us directly — nobody brokers the job, no app resells it as a lead, and we’re a full-service mover, not a truck-rental counter. The only hands on your belongings all day are movers on our own payroll.

The people you’ll work with

  • Renae Whitfield — office manager; scheduling, certificates of insurance and apartment-complex and storage paperwork
  • Darnell Pope — dispatcher; the daily truck board from Grand Blanc up to Clio, permits and all
  • Sam Petrucci — lead crew chief on pianos, gun safes, tight bungalow staircases and full basement loads
  • Wes Coburn — long-haul lead out on I-75, I-69 and US-23
  • Angelo Ruiz — our apartment and college move-in specialist around Kettering, UM-Flint and Mott

About fifteen uniformed movers work for us, every one on W-2 payroll — no day-labor, no subcontractors. Household jobs inside Michigan fall under our Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) authority; the second a load crosses a state line it moves under our US DOT and MC credentials, with the bond and insurance kept current the whole way. Ring (888) 278-9005 and odds are you get me directly — I still ride along on the toughest basement and third-floor jobs myself.

Meet the owner

Curtis Boyd — Owner of Budget Moving

I’m Curtis, and Budget Moving answers to me and no one else — no partners behind the curtain, no franchise fee, no badge on the truck but our own. I was raised here in Vehicle City, in a family that clocked in on the Buick City line, and before my first truck hit the road in 2013 I spent years carrying furniture up basements, down attics and around older-home staircases across Genesee County for other outfits. Ever since, I’ve run the place on a single rule: get a fair price down in writing, then put a crew on it good enough to back that number up. One truck turned into a whole yard on Dort Highway over the years, and still the way a job actually gets done here hasn’t budged. There isn’t a subcontractor on the crew — everyone who shows up at your door is in our shirt and on this company’s W-2 payroll — and a call to the office rings a desk right here in Flint, not some distant answering service. Time on these streets taught the crew what really makes or breaks a Flint move: the long carry up out of a full basement, a college-area building that needs an elevator window and a certificate of insurance on file, the turn at the top of an old brick-bungalow staircase, a winter driveway that has to be shoveled and salted before the ramp comes down. Because it is our name riding on the side of every truck, we blanket and pad an heirloom dresser exactly how I’d handle a piece leaving my own home. And being Budget Moving, none of that care ever shows up as a padded bill — the written number is honest, and we’re a full-service mover, not a truck-rental depot.

Your Move Day, Step by Step

  1. 1

    Your written number, same day

Our part: Give us the room count, whether we are walking straight out or hauling up from a full basement, and how the street and driveway sit on your block — and before we shut the office for the night, a figure in writing is usually already in your inbox.

Your part: Come with both anchor dates — move-out and move-in — and any codes for the building, garage or gate; that is what tightens a ballpark into a firm price.

  2. 2

Access nailed down ahead of time

Our part: We line up driveway and street access, book the elevator window at a college-area building, clear whatever certificate of insurance a property manager keeps on file, and in winter get the walk shoveled and salted — so the truck parks at the door and nobody has to carry a dresser half a block.

Your part: Hand us your two anchor dates — the one you must be out and the one you can move in — and tell us which of them cannot move.

  3. 3

    Padded, wrapped, tagged, carried

Our part: Dressers and sofas disappear under moving blankets and a wrap of stretch film, and every bit of hardware pulled off a bed frame or table gets bagged, tagged and taped right to the piece it came from.

Your part: Label your own cartons with the room they belong in on the far end, and keep passports, keys and small valuables riding in your own car, not the truck.

  4. 4

Off the truck, one room at a time

Our part: Whoever loaded the truck is who unloads it — each piece set where you want it, bed frames bolted back together, and every scrap of used wrap and tape hauled back out with us.

Your part: Walk the emptied rooms alongside the crew chief before the truck pulls away, while anything needing a quick touch-up still can get it.

What will a Flint move run you?

Tell us your home size, the date you have in mind, and roughly what is coming with you, and the same day we send a written estimate straight to your inbox. Nothing is due up front and there is no deposit — just a figure solid enough to build the whole move around.

  • Fully licensed and insured — Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) household-goods authority covers our in-state jobs, and the moment a load crosses the Michigan line we run under US DOT and MC authority
  • What you sign off on is exactly what the crew bills to — the figure is counted room by room, never eyeballed from the curb
  • Every mover on the job is in our uniform, on our own W-2 payroll, behind the wheel of a truck we own
