Local Movers in Flint, MI

Most of our work is right here at home — a rental off Court Street to a two-story in Davison, or a full house across town to Flushing. Owner Curtis Boyd grew up on Flint's east side and still rides along on the basement and piano jobs himself.

Budget Moving crew loading boxes into the moving truck in Flint

A real mover answers, every time

Dial the yard and it is Curtis on the line, or one of the crew who actually rides the trucks — no phone tree, no scripted call center. Walk us through what makes your move tricky — a turning staircase in an older Carriage Town bungalow, a Grand Blanc basement that has to come up flight by flight, the long rural pull out to Goodrich — and we have the whole day mapped before your date lands.

The number is locked before we lift a thing

We walk your rooms one by one, fold the wardrobe boxes, pads, dollies and shrink-wrap straight into that figure, and hand it to you in writing — so once the truck is in your driveway, nothing new ever shows up on the tab. That is what Budget stands for here: an honest up-front price, not a rental-depot counter.

Box the whole house or just the breakables

Give us the kitchen for dish barrels, let closets ride across on the hanger in wardrobe cartons, or simply flag the mirrors, flat-screens and glass tabletops — those we build a fitted crate around for the road. Your call on how much we handle.

The same crew, front door to front door

Whoever sizes up your rooms at the estimate is the crew chief steering the truck and doing the final walkthrough with you — a Davison ranch, a Flushing two-story, a third-floor place near UM-Flint, the job never gets handed off partway.

Neighborhood moves are the bulk of what we run — an apartment in Burton to a bungalow in Mt. Morris, a starter home out to a Grand Blanc subdivision, or a whole house across the county to Fenton. Darnell Pope has the truck board set and the parking figured before the crew pulls up, and how you pay is up to you: run the hourly clock, or lock a flat number once we’ve walked the rooms.

What a local job costs

  • $119 an hour for two movers plus the truck
  • $169 an hour once a third mover joins
  • A one-hour minimum, with wardrobe boxes, pads, dollies and shrink-wrap all included
  • Rather have a flat figure? Studio $360–$560, two-bed $640–$1,020, three-bed $1,120–$1,720

We cover Flint and every corner of Genesee County — Grand Blanc, Burton, Flushing, Swartz Creek, Fenton, Davison and out to Clio, Linden and Goodrich. Flint’s brick bungalows and two-stories come with full basements and attics, so Sam’s crew handles the haul up from the cellar and down from the attic as part of the job.

Included on Every Job

Each item here is simply how our crews work a move — nothing on this list reappears as a surprise charge at the foot of your bill.

  • A crew of two or three, matched to your home and the date that works for you
  • Run the hourly clock or settle a flat rate up front — whichever way you'd rather pay
  • Pads, dollies, shrink-wrap and wardrobe boxes all come on the truck, never added to the bill
  • Basement and attic loads carried up and down the older narrow staircases by Sam Petrucci's lead crew
  • Bed frames, tables and shelving broken down and rebuilt on both ends
  • Pianos, gun safes and other heavy pieces handled by the crew that does them every week
  • Coverage across Flint and all of Genesee County, from Grand Blanc up to Clio and out to Goodrich

The Questions We Get Most

My house has a full basement and a finished attic packed with stuff — do you carry all that up and out?
We do. Nearly every Flint bungalow and two-story has both, so hauling boxes and furniture up from the basement and down from the attic is built into the job. Sam's crew works those older narrow staircases all day.
With a name like Budget Moving, is the hourly rate really all-in, or do the add-ons pile up at the end?
It's all-in. The $119 two-mover rate covers the truck, pads, dollies, shrink-wrap and wardrobe boxes — no fuel surcharge, no stair fee, no charge for tape. 'Budget' means the number we quote is the number you pay.
We're moving out to Fenton, not inside Flint proper — do you still cover that as local?
Absolutely. All of Genesee County is local for us — Grand Blanc, Fenton, Davison, Flushing, Clio, Linden, Goodrich and the rest. The drive time to the farther towns is spelled out plainly on your written estimate, nothing hidden.
Can we settle on one flat price instead of watching the clock all day?
Sure. Tell us the room count and how tight the access runs at both ends, and we'll put one flat figure on it — a two-bedroom usually lands around $640 to $1,020 — with the hourly meter shut off for the day.
Are you a real local mover, or a booking service that sends someone else out?
The real thing. We work out of our own yard on Dort Highway — licensed and insured, owner-run, on trucks that are ours with movers in our uniform. We never sell your move off or hand it to a stranger — start to finish it stays with our own crew.

Your Move Day, Step by Step

  1. 1

    Your written number, same day

Our part: Give us the room count, whether we are walking straight out or hauling up from a full basement, and how the street and driveway sit on your block — and before we shut the office for the night, a figure in writing is usually already in your inbox.

Your part: Come with both anchor dates — move-out and move-in — and any codes for the building, garage or gate; that is what tightens a ballpark into a firm price.

  2. 2

Access nailed down ahead of time

Our part: We line up driveway and street access, book the elevator window at a college-area building, clear whatever certificate of insurance a property manager keeps on file, and in winter get the walk shoveled and salted — so the truck parks at the door and nobody has to carry a dresser half a block.

Your part: Hand us your two anchor dates — the one you must be out and the one you can move in — and tell us which of them cannot move.

  3. 3

    Padded, wrapped, tagged, carried

Our part: Dressers and sofas disappear under moving blankets and a wrap of stretch film, and every bit of hardware pulled off a bed frame or table gets bagged, tagged and taped right to the piece it came from.

Your part: Label your own cartons with the room they belong in on the far end, and keep passports, keys and small valuables riding in your own car, not the truck.

  4. 4

Off the truck, one room at a time

Our part: Whoever loaded the truck is who unloads it — each piece set where you want it, bed frames bolted back together, and every scrap of used wrap and tape hauled back out with us.

Your part: Walk the emptied rooms alongside the crew chief before the truck pulls away, while anything needing a quick touch-up still can get it.

What will a Flint move run you?

Tell us your home size, the date you have in mind, and roughly what is coming with you, and the same day we send a written estimate straight to your inbox. Nothing is due up front and there is no deposit — just a figure solid enough to build the whole move around.

  • Fully licensed and insured — Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) household-goods authority covers our in-state jobs, and the moment a load crosses the Michigan line we run under US DOT and MC authority
  • What you sign off on is exactly what the crew bills to — the figure is counted room by room, never eyeballed from the curb
  • Every mover on the job is in our uniform, on our own W-2 payroll, behind the wheel of a truck we own
